Questions

Before Applying

We do not require specific majors to apply to our campus programs. What’s most important is a genuine interest in financial services and the ability to demonstrate proficiency in the skills relevant to the role you’re applying for. We welcome candidates from a wide range of academic backgrounds who bring curiosity, analytical thinking, and a collaborative mindset.

Our summer internship program is specifically designed for current sophomores and juniors -- students who will be rising juniors and seniors during the internship period. At this stage, participants are typically further along in their academic journey and ready to engage meaningfully with the financial services industry.

While first-year students are not eligible for this program, we encourage you to explore our early engagement opportunities and stay connected as you continue your studies. We’re excited to support your growth and hope to see your application in the future!

To make your application stand out, focus on clearly expressing your interest in financial services and demonstrating the skills that align with the role you're applying for. Use your resume and application materials to highlight relevant experiences—whether academic, extracurricular, or professional—that showcase your analytical thinking, collaboration, and curiosity. Be sure to tailor your responses to reflect why you're excited about Wellington and how your background contributes to our mission. Attention to detail, clarity, and professionalism in your materials also go a long way.

Application Process

Yes, you’re welcome to apply to more than one role or location. Just be sure that you meet the qualifications for each opportunity and tailor your application materials, especially your resume, to reflect your interest and fit for each specific role. Thoughtful customization helps your application stand out and shows your genuine enthusiasm.

Instead of a traditional cover letter, we require a statement of interest, which involves responding to specific prompts listed in the job description. This statement is a required part of your application and must be completed for your materials to be reviewed. While we understand that generative AI is part of the world we operate in, we strongly encourage original, thoughtful responses. Submissions that rely heavily on AI-generated content and lack personal insight may be disregarded.

The interview process varies by team, but you can expect to participate in behavioral interviews across the board. These help us assess your interest in the financial services industry and how you might contribute to the culture at Wellington. For more technical roles, the process may also include case-based or technical interviews, and if you're selected to advance, we’ll share specific details about what to expect so you can prepare confidently.

All interviews are conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams. While you won’t need to complete a separate video assessment, you should be prepared to participate in live video interviews. We ask that you keep your camera on, join from a professional, distraction-free setting, and dress in business interview attire to help create a respectful and engaging experience for everyone involved.

Eligibility & Sponsorship

For our undergraduate roles, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship. This includes students on F-1 visas who do not have work authorization beyond CPT or OPT. Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor visas for these roles. However, for MBA candidates, there may be opportunities for sponsorship depending on the role and team. If you're an MBA student, we encourage you to speak directly with your recruiter for more information about eligibility and sponsorship options.

Yes! We offer various opportunities in our Hong Kong, London, Singapore, and Sydney offices. Each location has its own hiring needs, timelines, and eligibility requirements, so we encourage you to review the Global Opportunities section of our website for more details. If you have specific questions, feel free to email us directly, and we'll be happy to help you navigate the options available in your region.

Internship Experience

Interns at Wellington are integrated into their teams and contribute to meaningful, hands-on work from the start. Rather than observing from the sidelines, interns are empowered to support real projects that help their teams meet business goals. The experience is designed to be immersive and impactful, offering opportunities to apply your skills, learn from experienced professionals, and grow in a collaborative environment.

Yes! We believe strongly in the power of mentorship and the value of having a strong support system.

Interns are assigned a peer buddy and an early career buddy at the start of the program to help them navigate the corporate environment and build connections. Many teams also create opportunities for formal mentorship within their groups, and interns are encouraged to pursue both formal and informal mentorship across the firm.

For full-time associates, we also assign buddies who are typically early to mid-career professionals, and they have access to a firmwide mentorship program designed to help them connect with more senior leaders and build long-term relationships.

Our goal is to ensure every early career hire feels supported and empowered to thrive during their time at Wellington.

Yes! Interns begin their experience with a two-day orientation designed to help them acclimate to the firm and build foundational knowledge. Throughout the summer, they participate in a series of learning sessions that deepen their understanding of the concepts that drive our business forward. For full-time associates, we offer a two-week developmental program called Base Camp, which helps new hires adjust to the workplace and immerse themselves in the world of Wellington. Both programs are thoughtfully designed to support growth, connection, and long-term success.

While interns are not officially placed in rotational roles, we’ve seen strong performers take on stretch opportunities and gain exposure to different areas of the business. Many teams are open to allowing interns to shadow colleagues, and we actively encourage interns to network across the firm—both within and outside of their assigned teams. Building relationships and learning about different functions helps interns broaden their understanding of the industry and better assess the next steps in their careers.

Career Path & Conversion

Our internship programs are a primary pipeline for full-time hiring, and our conversion and retention rates tend to be very competitive within the industry. We hire based on business needs, which can vary year to year. Our goal is to place the right people in the right seats, so when interns demonstrate strong performance, interest in continuing with Wellington, and the skillsets required for available roles, we make every effort to find the right fit for them within the firm.

Yes, students who intern with us the summer before their junior year may be considered for a second internship the following summer. While we value retaining talent and have welcomed repeat interns in the past, we also encourage students to explore broadly—whether that means pursuing opportunities in other functions within Wellington or gaining experience at peer firms. Our goal is to support students in finding the path that best aligns with their interests and career goals.

We’re deeply committed to helping early career talent grow through structured learning, mentorship, and exposure to meaningful work. Interns and new grads are supported by dedicated programs, feedback cycles, and networking opportunities that encourage exploration across teams and functions. We also offer stretch assignments, access to senior leaders, and tools to help individuals chart their long-term path at Wellington.

Logistics & Support

Yes. Interns who are based outside of their assigned office location receive a competitive housing stipend, typically paid out before the internship begins. For new full-time associates relocating from another region, relocation benefits are provided to support their transition. Specific details are outlined in the offer letter.

Most internships are based in our Boston headquarters, with limited opportunities in other regional offices depending on business needs. Internships are in-person, and interns are expected to live within reasonable commuting distance of their assigned office location. Work arrangements follow the standards set by each office, which may include hybrid options in line with firm-wide policies. As of September 2025, Wellington operates under a hybrid work model, requiring four days in office and allowing up to one day of remote work.

Our internship program runs for 10 weeks, typically starting the first Monday of June. Interns are expected to work a full-time, 40-hour week, with some business areas occasionally requiring minimal overtime. We strive to ensure interns have a meaningful and impactful experience, while also prioritizing work-life balance in collaboration with their teams.

Culture & Community

At Wellington Management, early career professionals are welcomed into a culture grounded in integrity, collaboration, and a shared commitment to excellence. You’ll be part of a mission-driven firm where your ideas are heard, your growth is supported, and your work has real impact.

We offer hands-on learning, mentorship, and meaningful projects that help you build confidence and clarity in your career. We believe deeply in the power of differences and inclusivity. Our environment encourages authenticity and values a wide range of perspectives and experiences — because we believe that’s how the best ideas emerge.

From day one, you’ll be part of a community that invests in your success and empowers you to contribute to something bigger than yourself.

Our early career programs are designed to foster meaningful connections through curated social events, team-building activities, and networking opportunities with peers, mentors, and firm leaders.

Early career hires participate in speaker sessions with senior leaders, engage with business networks that promote cultural understanding and collaboration, and participate in fun, informal gatherings that help build lasting relationships. From day one, you’ll be part of a cohort that supports each other — professionally and personally.

Beyond the formal programming, early career hires are encouraged to explore the firm’s vibrant internal communities, including employee-led groups and initiatives that host events throughout the year. Whether it’s a lunch-and-learn, a volunteer outing, or a casual coffee chat, there are countless ways to connect, grow, and contribute to the culture of the firm.
